Lots Happening @ Once
I’ll be on the plane 5 days from 2 hours ago. I spoke with Doug, my landlord. I’ll see him Thursday. Really counting on getting cash from him and leaving under excellent terms. I need the cash; dead broke, and zero margin for error here, as far as transportation, anything “weird” that might occur at the airport, or in between now and then.
This is the second time in three years that I have left the same exact apartment, which is weird enough by itself. Doug, on the phone, mentioned, “Gee, you’re over the chemo, the weather is finally humane, it’s Spring, and you’re starting practically a new life in California.” And I told him that I was so focused on issues in the here-and-now, that it was impossible to take all of that “in” at once. But he has a point, doesn’t he?
So, after the phone call, I looked at the kitchenette and said, “It’s time for tacos!” And that is next. The bike shop (Freewheel Bike in Minneapolis), is all squared away, so I’ll ride over there tomorrow and say bye-bye, for a while, to the bike. After the tacos it’s time to start filling out change of address notes and stuff like that.
Last of the boxes are accounted for. And tomorrow is Skitch’s birthday. Life is hectic, broke, but good; given the alternative.
