Tuesday, For Real This Time

Tacos … they aren’t just for breakfast any more. Man, they were good. I’m looking at the fridge and cupboard and I see “imbalances.” Nothing that needs to be corrected, given that there’s only a few days left here. I thought I had potatoes–like 5 more pounds–and was going to use them in a big soup with leeks and onions, but I don’t, so the leeks are going to go down unused.

The same with a quart of soy milk that was destined for the soup. Oh well. I don’t like wasting food; it’s very rare for me, especially now that I have an appetite and some energy. Speaking of energy, I didn’t ship the bike today. I went for a long ride, instead, and got stamps and was amazed that I actually have energy for the bike again. I was in doubt as to whether I would ever have any strength back.

The bike goes tomorrow, as soon as the UPS guy shows up. Tonight I’m doing a major vacuum and surface cleaning. As soon as this is posted I’m doing a dry run on the packing. I have a lot of tape in case I need to open a box to get something out again. But that shouldn’t be necessary. I’m thinking that the last four boxes will go out on Thursday, although it’s possible, if the UPS guy has room tomorrow, that they’ll go then; we’ll see.

Mr. Coffee, a pan, the cast iron skillet, the coffee grinder and beans, a setting for one and my version of a week’s worth of clothes will go in the suitcase, with extra bags, and whatever I’m not thinking of right now, going in the second piece of checked luggage (a duffel bag that belonged to Suroosh).

It looks like, as Buzz Aldrin would say, “Everything is go.”
